Morocco is known for its rich culture and history, and the coastal town of Essaouira is no exception. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, located just a short flight from Marrakech, offers a unique experience and a welcome change from the bustling city. This one-day trip is a must-do for anyone visiting Morocco.
The narrow, winding streets and the vibrant medina of Essaouira provide a charming and distinct atmosphere. The town is famous for its port, which has been a hub of maritime activity for centuries. Visitors can explore the medieval fortifications that still stand guard over the town, or take a leisurely beach walk to enjoy the fresh Atlantic breezes.
For lunch, visitors can enjoy a fresh and delicious seafood meal at one of the many harbor-side cafes and restaurants. In addition to the local seafood, visitors can sample the famous argan oil, a staple of Moroccan cuisine, at one of the women’s cooperatives en route to the coast.
Water sports enthusiasts will be pleased to know that Essaouira offers a range of activities, including surfing, windsurfing, and kiteboarding.
The driver will pick you up from your Riad/hotel in Essaouira at 8:00 AM. Essaouira is a charming coastal town, beloved by many tourists. Once known as Mogador to the Portuguese, it's known for its local handicrafts, including thuja wood furniture and carvings, available in its numerous shops along the narrow, windy streets. Orson Wells filmed "Othello" here, featuring the famous Portuguese ramparts in its opening scene. You can visit the women's cooperative where argan nuts are transformed by hand into a versatile oil, perfect for salads and skin care. At the seafront, choose from a variety of freshly caught fish to be prepared for you on the spot. Essaouira is a great spot for coastal lovers, offering excellent surfing and a lovely beach. It has a pleasant micro-climate, mild in winter and cool in summer. A perfect place to relax after a desert trip, you can spend time on the beach, in cafes by the port, or exploring the many little shops. Your private day trip from Marrakech to Essaouira will end around 6:00 PM.
